Baker's Nine Kills Not Enough As Aztecs Sweep

SAN DIEGO - The San Diego State volleyball team broke open a close first set with a big run, held off CSUB in a tight second set then never trailed in the third en route to a 25-14, 25-22, 25-16 win Saturday evening in Peterson Gym.

Roadrunner junior middle blocker Alysia Baker (Tri-City Christian HS), who hails from nearby Vista, enjoyed a solid attacking night, leading both teams with nine kills while posting a solid .353 attack percentage. The rest of the 'Runner offense was stagnant, however, combining to hit -.051.

Kyley Sexton and Summer Nash led a balanced Aztec attack with seven kills apiece. Jessica Peacock chipped in six kills and six blocks for SDSU.

CSUB returns to action Tuesday for a match at Central Valley rival Fresno Pacific.
