ATHERTON, Calif. -– With the majority of their starting lineup resting after Saturday's dual against No. 9 Boise State, five Roadrunner wrestlers went a perfect 3-0 Sunday, leading the CSUB wrestling team to wins over Menlo College, Southern Oregon and UC Davis at the Menlo Duals.
Bakersfield swpt the field with little trouble, claiming nine of ten matches in a 39-3 win over Menlo, seven of 10 matches in a 29-12 win over Southern Oregon and seven of 10 matches in a 30-12 final against UC Davis.
At 133 pounds, Justin Durham won two matches by fall and one by major decision. Sam Barnhart went undefeated at 149 pounds, claiming a major decision, decision and injury default. Troy Goodban won twice by decision and once by major decision at 174 pounds. At 184 pounds, Mike Larson won his three matches by decision and at heavyweight, David Morgan won by technical fall, decision and major decision.
In all, the Roadrunners totaled 13 extra-point victories, including three by fall, three by technical fall and seven seven by major decision. The wins moved CSUB to 4-5 overall in dual competition this season.
Bakersfield remains on the road this week, traveling to San Francisco State for a non-conference dual Saturday. On Sunday, the Roadrunners remain in San Francisco, taking part in the California Collegiate Open.
