NCAA Division I athletics isn't the only thing for Roadrunner fans to "get Rowdy" about this season. CSUB Athletics announces that the return of the highly successful program, Rowdy About Reading is just around the corner. The program begins Monday, October 11th and entries are being accepted now.
Now entering its eighth year, Rowdy About Reading is a read-for-rewards program is available for all Kern County students in grades K-6. The five-month program is designed to encourage kids to read in order to contribute to their classroom "team" score.
Rewards for reading achievement are made to each student in the participating classrooms. The rewards include classroom visits from CSUB student-athletes, CSUB athletics spirit gear, classroom parties, and tickets to Roadrunner games. The grand prize winning classroom will receive tickets to a men's basketball game at Rabobank Arena and will sit in the 107.9 KUZZ luxury suite.
Last year, more 250 classrooms representing more than 6,000 students registered for the program. The program is fun for the kids and turn-key for teachers.
Sponsors for this year's Rowdy About Reading program are Bank of America, 107.9 KUZZ radio, and Bakersfield West Rotary.
