BAKERSFIELD, Calif. ? Wins by Elijah Nacita, Mitch Monteiro and Brandon Zoetewey were not enough as the CSUB wrestling team fell 28-16 to visiting Oregon State Sunday in the CSUB Icardo Center.

The Roadrunners dropped to 8-5 overall and 5-2 in Pac-10 duals while the Beavers improved to 9-7 on the season and 5-2 in conference action.

Nacita started the dual with a quick fall victory at 141. Oregon State's Garrett Drucker scored a takedown 30 seconds in, but Nacita escaped moments later to trail 2-1. Then, with 11 seconds remaining in the first period, Nacita spun quickly on Drucker, putting the Beaver redshirt freshman on his back to earn the six-point fall win.

Oregon State dominated the ensuing six bouts, however, beginning with a Heinrich Barnes 15-0 win over CSUB's Anthony Box at 149. Heinrich, ranked No. 16 nationally, used an eight-point second period to build a 13-0 lead over Box, then scored a reversal with 1:16 remaining to cut the bout short with the 15-0 advantage.

Down 25-6, the Roadrunners were able to get back on track late in the dual, winning two of the final three bouts. At heavyweight, No. 6 ranked Mitch Monteiro took down Brandon Perkins 30 seconds in, then rolled the Beaver onto his back for a fall victory at 2:14.

No. 16 ranked Brandon Zoetewey improved to 21-5 with a 9-0 win over Jake Gonzales at 125. The San Ramon native scored just three points in the first two periods, but picked up the action in the third, scoring on a takedown, a three-point nearfall and riding time for the shutout major decision.

Bakersfield has two more dual competitions in preparation for the Pac-10 Championships on Mar. 1-2. First up is a match-up with Cal State Fullerton Feb. 8 in the Icardo Center, followed by a dual against San Francisco Feb. 15. Both competitions kick off at 2 p.m. in the Icardo Center.
