Cross Country Completes Season at Northridge

VAN NUYS, Calif. -
The CSUB cross country team finished its 2009 campaign Friday evening at the Cal State Northridge Invitational at the Bolboa Park/Sepulveda Basin course. The race was originally scheduled to be a 6K race but due to the heat index, the race was shortened to a 5K. Danielle Domenichelli won the event, running unattached in 17:12.96. Cal State Fullerton took the team title, scoring 53 points to beat USC (61) by eight. CSUB finished in ninth place.

Junior Arianna Celis was CSUB's top finisher, placing 23rd in 19:04.89. Classmate Casey Glassey finished the course in 20:19.03 to take 53rd place. Sophomore Judith Mata placed 62nd in 20:54.96.

“We were a little unprepared for the 5K today,” Head Coach Robert Boyles said. “Our team was there with the intention of running a 6K so that threw us a bit. It was just something we couldn't control. The temperature was up around 100 so they decided to change it.”

The Roadrunners will now begin to focus on the indoor track and field season.
