Hornets Sting Roadrunners; Win 4?0

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. ?
Sacramento State scored three opening-half goals and added another marker in the second to defeat the CSUB women's soccer team Friday evening on the Main Soccer Field, 4?0. The Hornets improve to 4?4?1 while the ?Runners drop to 4?6?1.

Kim Kemper scored her second goal of the season in the 10th minute for the Hornets. Cori Shreve, Jordan Carlberg and Ashley Forbes also found the back of the net for Sacramento State.

Senior forward Alexa Vickroy led CSUB with four shots. Freshman Marina Constantinou made two saves in goal while her Sacramento State counterpart Savannah Abercrombie made five to pick up her second shutout of the season.

“I have to give Sacramento State all the credit,” Head Coach Nicole Van Dyke said. “They are a very good team and they punished us for every mistake we committed in the first half. It was very disappointing mostly because we didn't really put up a fight until the second half.”

The ?Runners are back in action Sunday as they host the Redhawks of Seattle University at 11 a.m. The men's first home contest of the season will immediately follow the women's match at the Main Soccer Field.
