Moseley Leads CSUB to Third Place Finish at Cal Poly

NIPOMO, Calif. - Sophomore James Moseley shot a 73 in the final round of the Coast BMW?Coast Nissan Intercollegiate on Tuesday to finish 10th overall and helped the CSUB men's golf team to a third?place team finish. Moseley shot rounds of 75 and 71 yesterday to finish the tournament with a 6?over?par 219.

The ?Runners finished with a combined 891 score, two shots better than fourth place Cal State Stanislaus. CSUB gained three shots on San Diego State on the final day but were still two shots behind the Aztecs in the standings. Cal Poly won the event, shooting 844. CSUB trailed Cal State Stanislaus by six shots heading into today's final round.

Freshman Richie Kernagis shot an even?par 71 to finish his first collegiate tournament in a tie for 19th place. Sophomore Kyle Morrison finished 23rd and senior Nick Baratelle was tied for 24th. Senior Adam Frey carded the only red number for the ?Runners this week, shooting a 2?under?par 69 on Tuesday.

Freshman Jason Errecart tied for 19th after shooting a 72 on Tuesday. Senior Chris Baden finished in a tie for 28th. Both Baden and Errecart traveled to the tournament as individuals and did not count towards the CSUB team score.

“Overall I am very happy with the improvement we showed over the week,” Head Coach Dave Barber said. “There were some first?tournament jitters out there but we performed very well. It's always positive to see the majority of our scores go down as the tournament progresses.”

CSUB will be off next week but returns to action on Oct. 20?21 at the Santa Clara Invitational in San Jose.
