Roadrunners Unable to Overcome Two USF Second?Half Strikes, Fall 2?0

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. ? The CSUB women's soccer team fell to the University of San Francisco, 2?0, Sunday afternoon at Negoesco Field. The ?Runners drop to 4?9?1 while the Dons improve to 5?5?2.

A scoreless first half yielded few chances for both sides with CSUB taking two shots while holding USF to five.

In the second half, Nicole Moore broke the scoreless tie in the 54th minute when Marina Constantinou broke up a cross but the rebound dropped straight to Moore who gave USF the lead. Alexis Mielke scored in the 73rd minute to add an insurance marker for the Dons, extending the lead to 2-0.

In goal, Constantinou finished with five saves for CSUB while Kelly Pohle ended up with two for the Dons. Kassi Massey had a team?high three shots for the Roadrunners.

“I thought we played well defensively today except for the two mistakes that resulted in two goals,” Head Coach Nicole Van Dyke said. “Offensively however, we didn't show much firepower today.

The ?Runners return home for a 7 p.m. match against the Waves of Pepperdine on Wednesday. Admission is only $2 if fans wear pink in support of breast cancer awareness.
