LOS ANGELES - Senior Nick Umohltz threw a season-best 196-2 in the hammer throw to place second in leading the Cal State Bakersfield track and field team at the Tommy Lister Invitational at Cal State L.A. on Saturday.
Umholtz's throw was only second best to former Roadrunner Arnaldo Cueto, who won the event at 206-5.
In other men's action, Ryan Lucker and Jose Orozco ran personal bests in the 3,000 meters as Lucker ran 9:06.65 and Orozco was just behind at 9:17.49.
Former Roadrunner Chris Figures won the men's shot put by nearly 10 feet with an amazing throw of 65-1 1/2.
In the women's competition, Alyssa Lewis, who holds CSUB's school record in the 3,000 steeplechase, ran personal bests in the 3,000 in 10:41.30 and in the 1,5000 in 4:50.44.
Freshman Sheena Cooper also ran a personal best in the 200 in 25.47.
