LAS VEGAS ? Daniel Atondo, CSUB's longest standing competitor this weekend, dropped a 4-1 decision to North Carolina's Keegan Mueller to end his run for placewinning status Saturday at the 26th Annual Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational, held at the Las Vegas Convention Center.
Wrestling in the 165 division, Atondo had opened tournament action with back-to-back decisions in the rounds of 32 and 16 before falling in the quarterfinals to Michigan's Eric Tannenbaum.
Still holding the chance to finish as high as third place, Atondo met Mueller Saturday morning, but was unable to stay alive for another round, falling by three and finishing the tournament 2-2.
The entire Roadrunner squad will head back to the practice mats for the next two-and-a-half weeks before returning to the state of Nevada for the Reno Tournament of Champions on Dec 19.
