FRESNO, Calif. ? The beginning of each half doomed the CSUB women's soccer team Thursday as it gave up a goal early in each period, falling 2-0 to Fresno State at Bulldog Stadium in Fresno.
Amanda Reyes was responsible for both Bulldog scores, notching her seventh and eighth goals of the season as FSU improved to 10-6-1 overall.
Her first goal came at the 6:43 mark when she was able to collect a lose ball following a corner kick and slip it past Roadrunner goalkeeper Nicole Padilla for an early 1-0 lead.
After the goal, CSUB settled in for the remainder of the half, getting off six shots to the Bulldogs' nine.
Just 10:24 into the second half, Reyes struck again, this time bending a 35-yard blast into the top right corner of the net. Nicole Gutierrez earned an assist on the goal.
The ?Runners took six shots in the second half, but Fresno State kept the pressure on with 16 shots, including six by Reyes.
Moriah Neville and Faith Perry had three shots apiece, but Bulldog keeper Kaity Revel came up with three saves and kept the ?Runners off the board.
Padilla finished the night with nine saves for CSUB who fell to 5-12-1 on the season.
The Roadrunners return to the Main Soccer Field for their season finale against Gonzaga Sunday at 1 p.m.
