BAKERSFIELD, Calif. ? The CSUB volleyball team completed a home?and?home sweep of valley rival Fresno State Wednesday night with a 30?17, 30?28, 30?25 win at the Icardo Center in Bakersfield.
Junior outside hitter Sarah Norman (Stockdale HS) paced the Roadrunners (6?16 overall) once again with a match?high 17 kills. Senior outside hitter Jodi Hardin (Liberty HS) chipped in 13 kills in her final home match. Defensively, junior libero Mystie McNaughton (Stockdale HS) led the way with 25 digs, the second most ever in a three?game match at CSUB.
Alisha McKee led the Fresno State (5?18) attack with 13 kills. Bakersfield native and Liberty High School product Lexi Watson added seven kills for the Bulldogs.
The 'Runners put game one away early, racing to a 23?8 lead en route to matching their biggest single?game win of the season at 30?17. Bakersfield then rallied from a 13?9 deficit with an 8?0 run in game two. Fresno recovered to tie the game several times, the last at 27?27, but a pair of Norman kills help put the game away for CSUB.
Bakersfield eased out to a 13?8 lead in game three and never relinquished its advantage as it completed the sweep.
The 'Runners will jump back into action Thursday night when they travel to Fullerton to take on Big West Conference opponent Cal State Fullerton in Titan Gym. First serve is scheduled for 7 p.m.
