Tom Shepherd joined the CSUB men’s soccer coaching staff in 2022 and serves as a graduate assistant coach.
 
Shepherd assists the team in daily activities during training and game preparation. He works with the coaching staff to properly implement training schedules, technology and data and film sessions. Along with this, Shepherd is the Graduate Assistant in the Sports Information Department -  assisting with statistics, story writing, content creating and forms of communication from both the Men’s and Women’s Soccer Teams at CSUB.
 
Shepherd played in 49 NCAA Division games as a player. He played at CSUB and was a three-year starter from 2018-2021, playing 39 games as a roadrunner. He helped the team reach post season play three times throughout his CSUB career and most notably scored in the home Big West Play-off game against UC Davis. Before coming to CSUB, Shepherd spent his freshman year at West Virginia University, playing in 10 games.

Prior to arriving in America, Shepherd spent much of his youth career at Stoke City Football Club in England, advancing to its U-23 team before transitioning to college soccer in the United States. While there, he was a member of the u16 team that won the Dallas Adidas Generation Cup in Dallas, Texas and competed in the U23 team that played in the Hong Kong Soccer Sevens tournament in Hong Kong.
 
Shepherd also represented the Wales National Team at youth level and made appearances for the u17 and u19 teams. This included playing in European Qualifiers and playing against Germany U19 away, in Germany in front of 12,000 people.
 
Shepherd earned his bachelor’s degree in Communications with an emphasis in Public Relations at CSUB, Magna Cum Laude. He was also inducted into the Roadrunner Golden Circle upon graduating from CSUB. Throughout his time on the Men’s Soccer Team, he appeared on the Dean’s List every semester and was a three-time All-Conference Academic Team.
 
He is currently completing his masters in the MPA program and will graduate in the Spring of 2023. He is a licensed Level 2 English Football Association Coach and plans to complete his UEFA B badge soon.
 
He was born on September 17, 1997, in Macclesfield, England and is the son of Nigel and Sally Shepherd.
