Gwenn Kagaoan

Gwen Kagaoan is in her first season at Cal State Bakersfield heading into Spring of 2024.

Prior to CSUB, Gwen began her coaching career at the NCAA Division I level at Indiana University–Purdue University Indianapolis serving as an Assistant Coach from 2000-01. She then left for the Univeristy of Hawai'i at Hilo, where she served as an Assistant Coach from 2007 to 2009 before stepping into the Interim Head Coach role in the 20`0 season. While at Hilo, she also took on roles as a Compliance Officer, Director of Academic Support, Assistant Athletic Director, and Assistant Director of Game Operations and Facilities. Her last stop prior to Bakersfield was at the Academy of Arts Institute where she was the Assistant Coach for the Urban Knights.

Kagaoan has coached travel ball and has supported numerous prospective student athletes through the college recruiting process. One of the notable former prospective student athletes was Cal State Bakersfield Head Coach Letty Olivarez. 

During her playing years, Kagaoan played college ball for the San Francisco State Gators as a four-year starter. The versatile utility player cemented her name in the Gator record books for individual statistical categories such as runs scored, walks, and assists. She is also listed in career categories such as tenth in most games played (208), eighth in at bats (617), sixth in runs (109), tied sixth in triples (8), eleventh in walks (50), and seventh in assists (418).

Kagaoan graduated from San Francisco State with a Bachelors of Science degree in Health Sciences, and later earned her Masters of Arts degree in Sport and Fitness Management from the University of San Francisco.
