Chris Ballard joined the CSU Bakersfield Athletics Department on Jan. 1, 2019. He serves as the Director of Compliance for CSUB Athletics.
Prior to joining the Athletics Department, Ballard worked at the Law Offices of Lang, Richert, and Patch and as a Compliance Specialist in the President’s Office at CSUB. His primary responsibility is the implementation and maintenance of strategies and procedures related to compliance with NCAA, conference, and institutional regulations, as well as diversity, equity, inclusion and the Runner Ready Program. Ballard also has a wide array of knowledge regarding various federal policies including Title IX and ADA and he lectures for the Criminal Justice department.
A native of Wasco, Calif., Ballard began his athletics career at Fresno State where he played football. After attending Fresno State, he returned to Bakersfield and ran a non-profit organization geared towards helping underserved populations in Kern County. From there, Ballard went on to Chair the Planning Commission for the City of Wasco and obtained a law degree from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law, where he delivered his commencement address.
Ballard spends most of his time with his fiancé, newborn daughter, and in the collegiate and professional sports world.
