Carlos Armendariz enters his thirdseason as an Assistant Coach at Cal State Bakersfield in Fall of 2025. He assists with team training sessions while also having oversight of the areas of travel, meals, and academic success.
In two seasons, 12 `Runners have earned All-Conference nods, including four First Team honorees. Academically, CSUB has enjoyed seven `Runners earning College Sports Communicators Academic All-District honors while 13 men have claimed Academic All-Conference recognition.
Armendariz returned to his alma to coach the Roadrunners but he has extensive experience in the soccer world. He is the owner and head coach of the 661 Futsal club, using his time as a member of the US Futsal National Team to help grow the sport locally.
A four-year member of the CSUB men’s soccer team and a three-year team captain, Armendariz was instrumental in guiding the `Runners as a student-athlete, paving the way for his eventual success with the coaching staff. He was a three-time All-Conference honoree, including on either side of Bakersfield transition from the Western Athletic Conference to The Big West.
Throughout his collegiate career, Armendariz kept his skills sharp during the offseason by playing three seasons with USL League 2 teams, including his final year as the team captain of FC Tucson.
The native of San Francisco earned a bachelor’s degree from Cal State Bakersfield in 2022. In his spare time, Armendariz puts his education and first-hand knowledge of being an athlete to good use, serving as an Athlete Mental Health Specialist for Onrise Care.
