Andy Fulenwider

Andy Fulenwider was appointed Head Coach of the Cal State Bakersfield beach volleyball team in October 2023 and enters his third season at the helm of the Roadrunners in Fall of 2025.

In his debut season (2024), Fulenwider led the `Runners to a 16-20 overall record, tying the program record for wins in a season and helping the team build a competitive foundation. In 2025, he guided CSUB to an 11-24 overall record, highlighted by three historic upset victories over #15 Georgia State, RV Boise State, and #15 Hawai’i at the Big West Championships. These marquee wins marked a major step forward for the program and showcased the team's growth under Fulenwider’s leadership.

In his two-year tenure, Fulenwider’s teams have produced seven All-Big West and five AVCA Top Flight selections as well as eight College Sports Communicators Academic All-District honorees.

With a deep commitment to the sport, Fulenwider has immersed himself in the beach volleyball world, developing athletes and refining his coaching craft. Since 2018, he has served as a coach and private trainer for AVP players, working alongside some of the top-ranked athletes in the U.S. and internationally.

In 2019, Fulenwider joined the coaching staff at the University of Saint Katherine, working with Head Coach Lauren Deturk and First Assistant Matt McDevitt. Together, they led the Firebirds to a conference title in 2021, and by 2023, the program had earned a Top 10 NAIA national ranking.

His influence also extends throughout California's beach volleyball club circuit. Fulenwider spent five years as a Head Coach at Tamarack Beach Volleyball Club before joining Wave BVC—one of the top beach volleyball clubs in the country. His strong recruiting ties have been key to bringing high-level talent to Bakersfield.

A proud CSUB alumnus, Fulenwider graduated in 1999 and later earned a teaching credential from Point Loma Nazarene University before fully pursuing coaching.
