Biography

2017-18 (R-JUNIOR): Finished the season with a career-high 11 victories and an 11-16 record at 197 pounds...was 4-10 in dual action and 1-2 in Pac-12 action...won opening match of the season by major decision against San Francisco State's Andrew Herrera...defeated Wisconsin's Andrew Salemme 9-3...went 3-2 at the Roadrunner Open before suffering an injury...went 3-2 at the Reno Tournament of Champions and took eventual All-America Josh Hokit of Fresno State to overtime...placed fourth at the Pac-12 Championships after defeating Arizona State's Austyn Harris...First Team Pac-12 All-Acdemic.

2017-18 (R-SOPHOMORE): Finished the season with a 7-16 record at 285 pounds...produced a 2-7 dual record and was 0-2 in Pac-12 action...won by decision five times and scored two pins...pinned Wisconsin's Ben Stone (3:19) in season-opening match...finished  fifth at the Roadrunner Opener...went 2-2 at the Southern Scuffle, pinning Utah Valley's Tate Orndorff in 40 seconds...First Team Pac-12 All-Academic.

2016-17 (R-FRESHMAN): Won the Fresno City College Open 184-pound title to begin the season (3-0)...was 2-2 at the Roadrunner Open before going 2-2 at the Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational...a knee injury ended season with a 7-4 record with one pin.

2015-16 (REDSHIRT): Sat out the season at CSU Bakersfield...split his time at 184 and 197 pounds during six open tournament...placed third at 197 pounds at the Menlo Invitation and third at 184 pounds at the Fresno City College Open...was fourth at 197 at the California Open and fourth at 184 at the San Francisco State Open...won 16 of his 26 open matches and tallied two pins.

HIGH SCHOOL: A 2015 graduate of Gilroy High School...coach was Greg Varlea...a two-time CCS section champion...was top 12 in California in both 2014 and 2015...graduated as the salutatorian of graduating class.

PERSONAL: Born Oct. 31, 1996...son of Maryann Penyacsek...a biology major working on a minor in business...hopes to go into field research after his time at CSUB...twin brother Matt is a member of the CSU Bakersfield wrestling team.
