Biography

2012-13 (R-JUNIOR): Began season with a third place showing at the San Francisco State U-21 Open (4-1)...followed up with a second place finish at the Roadrunner Open at 141 pounds...went 1-2 at the Reno Tournament of Champions...was 0-1 in dual competition...ended campaign with a 9-5 record and two pins.

2011-12 (R-SOPHOMORE): Finished third at the Roadrunner Open at 133 pounds...split dual action at Stanford Nov. 13...earned the victory at 133 during the Cal Poly dual...was 2-2 at the Cliff Keen Invitational...posted a 4-2 record at the Reno Tournament of Champions...was 0-2 at the Midlands Championships...won last dual appearances and finished season 13-10.

2010-11 (R-FRESHMAN): Was 17-14 with two pins...five of his losses were to opponents ranked in the top 15 at the time of competition...earned a third place showing at the Cal State Fullerton Open at 133 pounds...earned the No. 2 seed at the Reno Tournament of Champions before going out in the consolation round of 16...went 1-2 at the Midlands Open...moved to 141 pounds for the Cal Poly and Boise State duals...ended season 3-4 in dual meets.

2009-10 (REDSHIRT): Sat out the season as a redshirt at CSUB...was 7-7 wrestling unattached in open tournaments.

HIGH SCHOOL: A four-time Central Sequoia League champion at Selma High School...qualified for the CIF State Tournament four times...a two-time state placewinner including a runner-up finish in 2009...led the Bears to three league titles and a state runner-up finish in 2008.

PERSONAL: Son of Jose and Antonia Mendoza...a physical education and kinesiology major.
