Biography

2006: Colton Nichols wasn’t able to fully show off his abilities as a freshman wrestling down a weight at 197…finished the season with a 2-9 record…wrestled at 197 while Eric Parker continued his stronghold at the heavyweight position…earned his first collegiate win at the Las Vegas Invitational when he defeated Blair Alderman of Dana College, 7-6…filled in for three duals in January and earned an injury default win over current Roadrunner Brandon Halsey, who was then competing for Fresno State…Nichols took Halsey down and to his back 12 seconds into that match before he was forced to stop with the injury…finished the season as CSUB’s pick at 197 for the Pac-10 Championships and went 0-2.

POWAY HS: Nichols came to CSUB as one of the top heavyweight recruits in the country…ranked No. 6 nationally at 215 pounds by Intermat Wrestling after winning the CIF State Championship with a record of 50-1…recorded three pins, a technical fall and a major decision in five matches at the state tournament…won the Five Counties Invitational and placed second at the Reno Tournament of Champions…closed out the 2005 season at High School Nationals where he went 4-2 and missed placing by one match…placed second in the CIF finals in 2004…wrestled just two seasons of varsity at Poway, but recorded a 104-9 record with 82 pins.

PERSONAL: Major is physical education and kinesiology at CSUB with aspirations to be a firefighter or wrestling coach after graduation…enjoys wakeboarding in his spare time…parents are Terrie and Jimmy Nichols.
