Biography

2019-20 (R-SENIOR): Saw action in one bout, competing unattached, and defeated Wyland Nicholson of Cerritos College with a first period pin, before suffering a season-ending leg injury. 

2018-19 (R-JUNIOR): Recorded a 12-16 record at 141 pounds...went 4-9 in dual action and was 2-1 in Pac-12 action...placed fifth at the Roadrunner Open after going 3-2...defeated NCAA qualifier Josh Finesilver of Duke by major decision at the Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational...went 2-2 at the Southern Scuffle...defeated Fresno State's Chris Delozsa 15-11 to win the Feud on the Field...finished third at the Pac-12 Championships after beating Cal Poly's Wyatt Cornelision 11-3 and Arizona State's Cory Crooks 3-2.  

2017-18 (REDSHIRT): Sat out the season as a redshirt at CSU Bakersfield...recorded 12-8 mark, competing unattached at 141 pounds...produced four wins by decision, five by major decision, two tech falls and a pin...opened the season with a fourth-place finish at the Roadrunner Open, lost to teammate Russell Rohlfing in the third-place match...had second-fastest pin on the team (0:37) against Stanford's Isaiah Locsin...won final five matches of the season at the Cali Collegiate and placed third.

2016-17 (SOPHOMORE): Finished third at Roadrunner Open...went 3-2 at the Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational...finished 2-2 at Midlands Championships...went 4-7 in duals...placed third at Pac-12 Tournament...wrapped up year with 16-13 record overall.

2015-16 (FRESHMAN): Finished fifth at Roadrunner Open...was 2-2 at the Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational...went 2-2 at the Reno Tournament of Champions...tallied a 1-2 mark at the Midlands Championships...defeated Grand Canyon’s Jauqin Olivas 7-6 in six overtimes Jan. 31...started all 15 duals and went 5-10...placed sixth at the Pac-12 Tournament...finished season with a 15-21 record.

HIGH SCHOOL: A 2015 graduate of Bakersfield High School...finished eighth at 132 pounds at the 2015 state tournament...placed sixth at 120 pounds at the 2014 state tournament.

PERSONAL: Born Oct. 11, 1996...son of Carlos and Fabiola Herrera...an agricultural business major.
