Involved in secondary education and swimming and diving in the Bakersfield area for more than 28 years. Diving Coach Larry Everingham begins his 16th season at Cal State Bakersfield.

Everingham has taken numerous divers to the NCAA Division II Championships and has produced 12 national champions. His first national champion was his daughter Lawren at one- meter in 1992. Everingham’s other national champions include Kim Stanfield in 1993 at one- meter and in 1994 at one- and three-meter, Tina Hoagland at three-meter in both 1996 and ?97. Everingham has had two male national champions as well. Trevor Hoagland at one-meter in 1997 and Robb Pendergrass on the three?meter in 2001. In 2001 Pendergrass, earned NCAA Division II Diver of the Year honors while Everingham picked up men’s diving Coach of the Year honors.

Since that time, Everingham has been on a roll, coaching five national champions over the past two years. In 2005, Ross Farance won both the one-meter and three-meter titles to pick up NCAA Division II Diver of the Year honors. That was followed in 2006 with Sean Ogren, who also swept both boards, as well as Laura LaFranchise, who not only earned a national title on the one-meter board, but also set a national record. Both swimmers were named NCAA Division II Diver of the Year, and Everingham earned NCAA Division II Diving Coach of the Year honors in both 2005 and 2006.

Everingham’s earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Alabama in 1967 and continued at Alabama for his master’s degree in education in 1968. While he was pursuing his academic goals at Alabama, Everingham served as a graduate assistant with the swim team in the diving program.
