Meghan Thomason entered her seventh season at CSU Bakersfield in fall of 2020. Thomason joined the Roadrunner staff in 2014 as the head coach of the women’s golf team. On Mar. 1, 2015, Thomason assumed the position of Interim Director of Golf and was named Director of Golf before the start of the 2015-16 season.

In each of her first three seasons with the ‘Runners, Thomason helped the ‘Runners lower their average team score. The 2013-14 squad posted a season average of 338.04 (+51) before Thomason’s arrival. The 2014-15 edition of the ‘Runners dropped their season scores to 326.46 (+38) in their first year under Thomason and improved to 326.17 (+38) in 2015-16.

During the 2016-17 season, the team's average dropped to 316.83 (+30) and the `Runners placed two student-athletes (Tori Peers and Ariel Lee) in the Top 10 at the Western Athletic Conference Tournament, a feat previously unaccomplished by any `Runner. CSUB has produced six Academic All-WAC honorees in Thomason’s three-year tenure.

The 2017-18 season proved to be another record-breaking year for the `Runners as every individual and team standard in the record book was broken at least once. The highlight of the year came at the Battle At The Rock tournament when CSUB’s 54-hole team score of 892 smashed the school record by 36 strokes. Lee and Peers graduated, respectively, as CSUB’s No. 1 and No. 2 all-time leaders in career scoring average.

2018-19 proved to be another solid year with the squad finding its way onto CSUB's Top 10 all-time performances nine times. A pair of juniors in Macey Mills and Vanessa Watkins led the way all season long, setting up 2019-20 to be a strong finish for the pair of seniors.

The Coronavirus pandemic cut the 2019-20 short, but Thomason's squad had produced quality results before the suspension of play. Mills tied Peers on the CSUB career leaderboard for most rounds in the 70s while posting the lowest single-season scoring average of her career. When golf resumed in spring of 2021, Thomason's `Runner seniors finished strong with Brandi Borjon leading the way. Borjon paced CSUB with a 25th-place finish at the program's first Big West Golf Championship.

As a former collegiate golfer, Thomason brings an array of golf knowledge as well as previous head coaching experience to Bakersfield. She has spent the past three years as the head girls’ golf coach at San Joaquin Memorial High School in Fresno, Calif.

A native of Fresno, Thomason was a four-time team MVP at San Joaquin Memorial. She was awarded Conference MVP in 2004 and 2005 before playing for Fresno City College in 2006 and 2007. During her junior college years, Thomason was named to the All-Conference team and was the Central Valley Conference MVP. After transferring to Chicago State, she was a member of the 2009-10 Fresno State Bulldogs women’s golf team her senior year. Thomason graduated from Fresno State in 2010 with a bachelor’s degree in recreation administration and received a master’s degree in kinesiology - sport administration in 2013.

While coaching at San Joaquin Memorial, Thomason also gained vital experience as the Director of Events at the River Park Golf Center in Fresno. Her expertise and skills earned her a position with the Northern California Golf Association in 2013 where she worked as the USGA PJ Boatwright Intern, Rules and Competition in Pebble Beach.

Thomason lives in Bakersfield with her husband, Jerrett, their daughter, Austin, and their two dogs, Macaroni and Stag.
