Katy Barrett Baxter heads into her second season as the Head Coach of the Cal State Bakersfield women's golf team in Fall of 2024. She oversees all aspects of the Roadrunner golf program, including competitive success, recruiting, logistical coordinator, and fundraising.

2023-24 Highlights:
  • Led by sophomore Sarah Mutai, CSUB rewrote the record books, breaking records for individual 18-hole (66) and 54-hole (211) scores, team 18-hole (291) and 54-hole (888) scores
  • Team posted second-best single-season scoring average (310.56) in program history
  • Recorded best cumulative team GPA (3.75) across all of CSUB Athletics in Fall of 2023
Baxter joined the collegiate coaching ranks in 2021 at her alma mater, Long Beach State, where she served the women’s golf team as Assistant Coach for two seasons. She helped the Beach program earn a second-place finish at The Big West Championship in 2023 while Jasmine Leovao won the league’s individual title. LBSU also produced five WGCA All-American Scholars in her two seasons in Long Beach.

Following a successful collegiate career, Baxter earned a teaching credential while also competing professionally in the Cactus Tour before retiring and turning to work as a golf professional. She is also a dual Class A Member of the PGA and LPGA and has served in multiple leadership roles, most recently as the Western Section Vice President for the LPGA.

After retiring from competitive golf, Baxter returned to her roots as an assistant pro at Spanish Trails Country Club in her hometown of Las Vegas. She then spent four years in the same position at La Jolla Country Club in southern California before working for the Callaway Golf Company for 18 months.

While competing for the Beach (then the 49ers) as a student-athlete, Baxter was a four-year letterwinner, earning First Team All-Big West honors and helping LBSU to its first-ever NCAA Regional appearance in 2006. She also recorded a Top 10 conference finish as a senior in 2008.

Baxter earned a bachelor's degree in communications from Long Beach State and a elementary education teaching credential from Sierra Nevada College.
