2017 (FRESHMAN): Earned silver medal and First Team All-Conference honors at WAC Outdoors in decathlon with 6,638 points…Now ranked third all-time for CSUB in decathlon…Placed sixth at WAC Outdoors in pole vault with season-best mark of 14-11.00 to earn Second Team honors…Mark ranks him sixth in CSUB history…Other season-bests: 100m (11.31), 200m (23.17), 400m (52.83), 1500m (4:45.41), 110m hurdles (15.17), discus (104-00), high jump (5-11.25), javelin (168-06), long jump (22-00.75), shot put (37-09.25)...Competed at USATF Junior Nationals in the Under 20 division.
 
HIGH SCHOOL: A 2016 graduate of Stockdale High School.…Coach was Dave Lonsinger…Earned Coaches’ Award twice and Second Team All-Area in 2015…Set school records in pole vault, pentathlon, and decathlon…Scored 6595 points in decathlon at Mt. SAC, ranking second in nation using high school implements, fourth all-time in California’s 165-year history, and Central Section record holder…Won Southwest Yosemite League title in pole vault in 2016 with a height of 14-00.00…Best marks: decathlon, 6291; pole vault, 14-05.00; 110-meter hurdles, 15.05; javelin, 130-00.
 
PERSONAL: Born on Jan. 17, 1998...Son of Brett and Susan Zandes…Plans to major in kinesiology and hopes to be a high school PE teacher to show kids how to be active…Father, Brett, competed in track and field at CSU Bakersfield in early 1990s.
