2017 Track (R-JUNIOR): Placed 15th overall (6:17.79) at the Northridge Invitational Mar. 18. 2016 Cross Country (REDSHIRT): Competed in one race for the cross country team...posted a time of 25:24.2 in the 5k at the Mustang Challenge...sat out the remainder of the 2016 cross country season.

2016 Track (REDSHIRT): Ran the 1500-meter in 6:17.79 at the Northridge Invite...sat out the remainder of the 2016 track season. 2015 Cross Country (SOPHOMORE): Competed in three meets for the cross country team...posted a time of 21:03 in the 4.2k at Fresno State...ran a 5k time of 26:05.3 at the Mustang Challenge...joined the United States Navy.

2015 Track (FRESHMAN): Ran in the 1500-meter five times...opened season with time of 6:16.80 at the Cal State LA Invitational...worked personal-best time down to 6:02.26 in last meet of season. 2014 Cross Country (FRESHMAN): Competed in three meets...posted a season-best time of 24:40.6 in the 5k at the Mustang Challenge.

HIGH SCHOOL: A 2014 graduate of Centennial High School...coached by Vondre Armour...competed in both cross country and track and field...helped lead the Golden Hawks to win a cross country SWYL championship (2013)...was honored with the Golden Hawk Victory Wreath Award, State Seal of Biliteracy...was named Most Improved on the cross country team. PERSONAL: Born Sept. 6, 1996...parents are Rene Ortiz and Eleuteria Salazar...major is Human Biology, minor is Psychology...plans to pursue a master's degree in Physician Assistant Studies...nicknames include Piccolo and J-Lo.
