Biography

2011 (FRESHMAN): An immediate star in sprints and for CSUB’s relays, Taylor was one of the biggest point scorers for the Roadrunners in his freshman season…Qualified for the NCAA West Regional in the 100- and 200-meter dash and advanced to the second round of regionals in the 200, where he finished 19th overall… Was part of the men’s 4X100 relay that took first place at the Cal State Los Angeles Las Chance Meet (May 14) with a 41:83, at the Occidental Invitational (May 7) in 40.98, at the Fresno State Invitational (Apr. 30) with a season-low time of 40.83, at the Pomoa-Pitzer Invitational (Apr. 9) with a time of 41.43, at the USC Invitational (Mar. 19) with a time of 41.44 … A member of relay squad that placed second in the 4X100 at the Cal-Nevada Championships (Mar. 27) with a 41.44 mark and also finished in second at The Cal State Northridge (Mar. 12) with a time of 41.80…Won the 200-meter dash at the Fresno State Invitational (Apr. 30) with a time of 20.86…Won his heat of the 200-meter dash at the Cal State Northridge Invitational (Mar. 12) and went on to take second overall with a time of 21.50 and also took fourth in the 100 (10.73)…Took second place in the 100 at the Pomona-Pitzer (Apr. 9) with a 10.70…Finished in second place in the 400 (48.59) at the Cal Poly Invitational (Apr. 2)…Recorded two top-five performances at the Cal-Nevada Championships (Mar. 27) when he took second in the 200 (21.39) and fifth in the 100 (10.72)…Took third place in the 100 and fifth in the 200 at the USC Invitational (Mar. 19) with a 10.76 and a 21.91 respectively…Also placed fourth in the 100 (10.66) and seventh in the 200 (21.77) at the Last Chance meet…Named to the All-Academic Track and Field team by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association by meeting the standards of having a GPA of 3.25 or higher as well as qualifying for any round of the NCAA Division I Championships…Taylor had a GPA of 3.265….In the indoor season, Taylor took second in the 60-meter dash with a time of 6.89 at the NAU Team Challenge (Feb. 5).

 

PETE KNIGHT HIGH SCHOOL: Taylor led the Hawks team to a Golden League Championship in 2010…was a three–time Golden League individual title holder his senior season…won the 100 meters with a season–best time of 10.53 which was also a school record…claimed the 200 meters title with a time of 21.72…capped off his triple–league title by anchoring the 4x100 relay (42.83)… named Track and Field MVP that same year…also won the 100 meter in the highly–competitive Mt. SAC Relays with a time of 10.64… in addition to the 100 meter, Taylor holds school records in the 200 meter (21.41), 400 meter, 4x100 relay, 4x200 relay 4x400 relay and sprint medley...also played football for the Hawks.

PERSONAL: Taylor goes by the nickname “J.T.”…is a business major at CSUB…has plans to attend graduate school after CSUB…parents are Darryl and Norma Taylor…Born on Dec. 12, 1991.
