2009: Derek Johnson put together a strong sophomore campaign in the throwing events for the ?Runners in 2009...had a team best mark of 166-9 in the discus at the Fresno State dual...threw the hammer 177-3 at the same meet...also threw the shot put and weight throw.

2008: Johnson had a stellar freshman season with the Roadrunners, capped off by a first place finish in the discus at the NCAA Division I Independent Championships...his winning mark of 162-7 was shy of his personal best mark of 178-2, which would be an NCAA DI regional qualifier if CSUB were postseason eligible...also threw a 51-8.5 mark in the 35-pound weight.

AGOURA HS: Johnson made a name for himself in the discus and hammer throws at Agoura HS...worked his way to a No. 3 national ranking in the discus throw in 2007...earned All-American, all-county and All-Marmonte League honors for his performance...set the Chargers’ school record in the discus with a mark of 205-5...that mark was also good for the league and county record, and a top 10 ranking in the state...helped lead Agoura High to league, county and state championships in 2007.

PERSONAL: Johnson is a plysical education and kinesiolgoy major at CSUB...plans to become a teacher.
