Joshua Biagtan enters his third season with the Cal State Bakersfield track and field program in Fall of 2025. Biagtan serves the
Roadrunners as the associate head coach and specializes in sprints and jumps events. In addition to these responsibilities, he is also the recruiting coordinator for the Track & Field/Cross Country program.
During the 2024-25 season, Biagtan coached Makiah Parker to a gold medal in the 200m at the Big West Championships and a runner-up in the 100m. Parker also broke the school record in both events, the two records stood for over 30 years.
Before coming to Bakersfield, Biagtan served four years as the assistant track & field coach and associate head coach, also served as the program's recruiting coordinator at Texas A&M Corpus Christi. His efforts led to 1 conference champion, 13 school records, 17 all-conference performers, and 2 NCAA Championships First-Round qualifiers.
Before joining the Islanders, Biagtan was an assistant track & field coach at Troy University from 2016-2019, specializing in coaching sprints, jumps, hurdles, and relays. During his time at Troy, he helped coach 1 Sun Belt conference Freshman of the Year (2018, Precious Ogba), 10 school records, 28 all-conference performers, and 15 NCAA Championships First-Round qualifiers.
Biagtan holds USA Track & Field Level I Certification and USTFCCCA Certifications in jumping events and strength and conditioning.
Biagtan is a Stockton, California native and received his Bachelor's degree (Kinesiology-Exercise Science) from Fresno State & his Master's degree (Kinesiology) from Troy University. He and his wife, Garyn live in Bakersfield with their sons Emmanuel & Elijah.
