David Charleston is entering his first season as a volunteer assistant coach in fall of 2014. He was a graduate assistant coach at CSU Bakersfield in 2014 pursuing a master's degree in public administration. Charleston served as an undergrad assistant, earning his degree in math in 2013.

As a redshirt season in 2012, Charleston led the way for CSUB in the indoor season by recording multiple top-10 finishes in several jumping events. As a junior, Charleston won the high jump competition at the Run For The Dream Meet and placed third in the high jump by clearing the bar at 6-4 at the Northern Arizona Open .

Charleston had CSUB’s top high jump and triple jump marks in 2009. He cleared 6-6 in the high jump and marked 45-4 in the triple jump at the Fresno State dual. As a freshman, Charleston posted season best marks of 6-4.75 in the high jump, 22-0 in the long jump and 47-3.5 in the triple jump.

A Bakersfield native, Charleston had a standout prep career at West High School. Competing in the high jump, long jump and triple jump, he earned the Southwest Yosemite League MVP honor on two occasions and was a four-time team MVP. He was a four-time league champ in the high jump and a three-time league champ in the triple jump. He also was a two-time league champ in the long jump. The 2007 Central Section triple jump champion, Charleston tied West High’s record in the high jump (6-10).
