2012
(JUNIOR CROSS COUNTRY): Made an immediate impact on the ‘Runners after transferring
from Antelope Valley…Placed 24th at the Great West Conference meet with a time
of 20:19….One of two ‘Runners to race in the NCAA D-I West Regional meet and
placed 207th (26:01)…Recorded her fastest time of the season, a 19:32.67, at
the Cal State Northridge Invite, where she took 33rd place….In her
debut meet with the ‘Runners, turned in the fastest time for CSUB by clocking a
20:30.4 at the Mark Covert Classic to take 59th place.
2009-11
(ANTELOPE VALLEY COLLEGE): Earned an associate degree in arts in social and
behavioral sciences in 2011...Ran track and field and cross country for Antelope
Valley College...Earned all-conference honors in cross country in 2009 and 2010
under coach Mark Covert...Qualified for the state meet for cross country in 2009
and 2010...Won conference titles in track and field in the 1,500-meter in 2010
and 2011...Finished fourth in the state meet in the 1,500 and earned All-American
status...Named to the Academic All-State Cross Country team in 2010....Broke the
nearly 20-year old school record in the 1,500.
HIGH
SCHOOL: Graduated from Palmdale High School in 2009...Ran cross country for the
Falcons under coach Jamie Williams.
PERSONAL:
Born June 5, 1991...Will also compete on CSUB's track and field team...Majoring in
criminal justice and obtaining a teaching credential...Plans on minoring in
psychology...Daughter of Pablo Ortiz and Margarita Garcia.
