After completing her
student-athlete eligibility in the 2011 season, Petersen is returing to
the Roadrunners as a volunteer assistant student coach for the 2012
season.
Petersen ranked among the
top power hitters for Roadrunners in 2010 and 2011 after transferring from
Fresno State. In her two seasons as a Roadrunner,
Petersen recorded a .311 batting average, drove in 73 runs, scored 51 runs and
hit 21 doubles and 17 home runs.
2011 - CSUB: Petersen
started all 52 games at first base for CSUB...Petersen compiled a .263
batting average and drove in 26 runs with six home runs, eight doubles
and added 17 runs scored...In the field she registered 231 putouts with
17 assists and only six errors...also added six walks and recorded 68
total bases.
2010 - CSUB:
Ryane Petersen enjoyed a dazzling first season as a Roadrunner, earning
first team All-PCSC Coastal Division and second team NFCA All-Region
honors...became just the second Roadrunner (Bethany Snow) to earn
all-region recognition at the NCAA Division I level...finished in the top
10 in the PCSC statistical rankings in eight categories while leading
the conference in RBIs (50) and total bases (116)...also finished second
in hits (67) and home runs (12)...her 12 home runs tied Christie Hill's
CSUB record...her 50 RBIs were the fourth most in a season for a
Roadrunner while her slugging percentage (.620) and totals bases rank
fifth on the CSUB single season list...had all five RBIs in a 5-0 win over
UC Santa Barbara (Mar. 13)...had 21 multi-hit games and 16 multi-RBI
games...hit .459 (17-for-37) over a season-best 10-game hitting streak
from Apr. 17-26...in that streak she had her first two-home run game in a
7-1 win over New Mexico State (Apr. 26)...led all position players with a
.988 fielding percentage, making just three errors in 257 chances.
Fresno State:
Ryane should help bolster both the lineup and the pitching staff after
transferring from traditional national power Fresno State in the off
season...played primarily as a pitcher during her freshman season and as a
first baseman/designated player as a sophomore...hit three home runs as a
sophomore and had three multi-hit games in 2009, including consecutive
games in which she went 2-for-4 with a home run in wins over Boise State
on Apr. 25...was a perfect 3-0 in the circle with a 2.15 ERA as a
freshman in 2008...one of those victories came at the expense of top 25
ranked Hawaii, when she threw five shutout innings of relief in a 3-2
win on Apr. 26...her two other wins also came by shutout: a four-hitter
vs. Saint Peter's (Mar. 1) and a five-inning, one-hitter vs. Rhode
Island (Mar. 8).
High School: Lettered four times in
softball for the Knights of Bullard High School...earned All-County/Metro
League honors as a sophomore, junior and senior...named All-CIF Central
Section as a senior...led the Knights to 15 consecutive league wins and
back-to-back County/Metro League titles in 2006 and 2007...league Pitcher
of the Year in 2007...played in the City/County All-Star game following
her senior season...named the 2007 Jenny Eller Award winner...also played
volleyball at Bullard and was team MVP in 2004.
Personal:
Ryane is majoring in physical education and kinesiology at CSUB...career
goal is to become a teacher and a coach...was born on the Fourth of July
(1989).
