Ashley Carter joined the CSUB softball coaching staff as an assistant coach in fall of 2018. Carter works with the Roadrunner hitters and outfielders.
Carter came to Bakersfield by way of Slippery Rock University in Pennsylvania. The native of Fontana, Calif. spent was an assistant coach for the NCAA Division II team from 2014-17. In her final year at SRU, Carter helped guide the squad to a 24-19 record, its highest win total since 2008. In Carter's four years with the school, Slippery Rock had 13 student-athletes earn All-Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Western Division honors and one was selected as the PSAC West's Athlete of the Year.
A former professional softball player, Carter was a member of the Pennsylvania Rebellion, the California A's, and Team Ruthless, a squad that was coached by former USA Olympian Crystl Bustos.
A 2013 graduate of Cal State Fullerton, Carter was a four-year letterwinner for the Titans. She earned All-Big West Conference honors twice in her career and left the program ranked third in career triples (9) and eighth in fielding percentage (.988). In 2012, Carter paced her team in hits, batting average, runs scored, and extra-base hits.
