Former Fresno State
star Aja Scheuber is in her second season as an assistant coach to head coach Crissy Buck.
Scheuber, who played for the Bulldogs from 2007-08,
came to the Roadrunners from Colorado State University, where she served as a
volunteer assistant softball coach earlier in 2011. Scheuber also held the
position of assistant softball coach at New Mexico Highlands University in the
2010-11 season and held the same post at Taft College in 2009-10.
Scheuber assists the
team with hitting and outfield duties and her primary focus on game days is working with pitchers and catchers and calling pitches.
Prior to transitioning to a
coach, Scheuber, a Turlock, Calif., native, played at Merced College
before transferring to Fresno State to finish out her collegiate career at the
Division I level.
A utility
player, Scheuber helped the Bulldogs earn a Western Athletic Conference championship in
2007. As a senior, she started all 67 games for Fresno State
and recorded a .342 batting average with 48 RBIs, 31 runs scored, nine doubles
and five homers. Her performance earned her an NCAA West Regional Team
selection.
Off the field, Schubert was selected first team ESPN the Magazine/CoSIDA Academic All-American and was also a
two-time WAC All-Academic and Fresno State Dean’s List selection.
Scheuber earned a bachelor
of arts degree in sociology from Fresno State and added a master’s degree in
human performance and sport from New Mexico Highlands University.
