Shane Pelton was announced as CSU Bakersfield’s men’s and women’s swimming and diving head assistant coach on Aug. 27, 2015. Pelton serves as the recruiting coordinator for the Roadrunners. In addition to his recruiting responsibilities, Pelton will be the distance coach for CSUB and will oversee academics for the ‘Runner swimming and diving teams.

Pelton brings a nearly a decade of coaching experience as he began coaching in 2008 at the University of Bridgeport, a Division II program, in Bridgeport, Conn. He spent five years with the Purple Knights, working with the men’s and women’s swimmers as well as being the lead recruiting assistant. Pelton then joined the coaching staff at Arizona State and was there from 2013-14. He spent his first season as a graduate assistant for the Sun Devils and then became an assistant coach.

Pelton was a well-rounded swimmer at South Connecticut State University, a Division II program. He competed for the Owls from 2004-08 and earned All-American status in the 400 IM and 800 freestyle during his senior season. He graduated from SCSU in 2008 with a degree in business management and earned a master’s degree from Arizona State in 2015.
