Vasquez is in his first year as a student assistant for the men's and women's swimming and teams after exhausting his eligibility for the Roadrunners last season.

As a student-athlete, Vasquez served as a team captain during his junior and senior seasons. He finished 10th in the 400 individual medley (4:00.86), 12th in the 200 backstroke (1:49.31) and 15th in the 100 backstroke (51.21) at the WAC Championships his senior year.
