George Eglesfield

George Eglesfield is in his second season as the Lead Assistant Coach & Recruiting Coordinator for Cal State Bakersfield Swimming & Diving in Fall of 2023.

Eglesfield arrived at CSUB following one season as the first assistant for the University of Massachusetts-Amherst, where he worked directly with both the men's and women's swimming and diving programs, while also coordinating all recruiting efforts for the men's program. While in Massachusetts, he also served as the Head Coach of the Amherst Tritons for the Senior and Group Two teams. 

Prior to UMass, Eglesfield, coached with the North Canterbury Swim Club in his native New Zealand and at the Apex Sports Academy in Dubai. 

From 2017-19, he served as a graduate assistant coach at Bryant University working primarily with the team's butterfly specialists and spring freestylers. Eglesfield helped the Bulldogs to NEC Championships in both 2018 and 2019 and mentored student-athletes who broke a combined 10 conference records. 

In the summer of 2019, he served as an interim coach with the US Virgin Islands World Championship swim team. 

Eglesfield competed for four seasons at the University of Wyoming, winning a 2014 Western Athletic Conference Championship in the 200 Butterfly. He also set school records in the 100 and 200 Butterfly events and the 200 and 400 Medley Relays. 

He captured the 2014 New Zealand National Championship in the 100 Butterfly. 

Eglesfield holds a Bachelor's Degree in Finance and Economics from Wyoming ('17), and a Master's in Communications from Bryant ('19).
