Four Pillars - CSU Bakersfield Athletics

The vision for the Athletics Department at CSU Bakersfield is to develop Champions for Life! Our focus is on the improvement in four key areas that we refer to as our "pillars".

Academic excellence will continue to be a top priority and we believe we have created a strong foundation with the help of the $870,000 NCAA grant that was received in 2016. The grant, along with other department, institutional, and private investments, have put the Kegley Center for Student Success and the academic support division in a strong position for future growth and improvement.

Student-athlete experience. Our department places a strong focus on the enhancement of our facilities, travel accommodations, competition scheduling and academic and overall well-being support. 

Community engagement is vital to the success of Bakersfield Athletics. We are Kern county's only NCAA Division I program and it is our goal to create a product the community can is proud of and want to support in any way possible. Our Student-Athletes, coaches and staff can be seen as various events around the city and Kern County year round. It's this connection that makes Bakersfield Athletics a part of the Bakersfield fabric.

Competitive success is a focal point for all 16 of of varsity sports teams. Competing in the Big West Conference and Pac 12 Conference, our teams work tirelessly to bring championships to campus and pride to all of Bakersfield and Kern County.
