Hey Y'all!!!!

It has been a busy start to the quarter but we are now in Flagstaff, Ariz., in the middle of a snow storm. Arizona is either flooding or being snowed upon. We have seen around 17 inches of snow pour down and all highways in and out of Flagstaff have been closed since we have been here. We are having a lot of fun in the snow! We made a fort in the snow, had multiple snow ball fights and now are getting ready for the meet that had been moved from Friday night to Saturday morning. The team is ready to compete and we are all looking forward to the start of competition season. This is just the start so we will see how we do! Wish us luck Runner fans!

Happy Thanksgiving 'Runner Fans!

Well, this quarter is finally over! It is time for a much-deserved break (from school not workouts anyway) for a few week's time. The track team has been busy with practices and preparations for our short indoor season, but more importantly we have been hitting the books so that we will be eligible to compete in both the indoor and outdoor seasons. That is about all concerning the team. Happy Thanksgiving to all 'Runner fans!!! I want to wish everyone a good holiday season and anyone who is traveling, make it safe. I will head back to good ole' Cottonwood, Calif., the day before Thanksgiving to be with my family! I hope everyone has a good holiday season

Happy Thanksgiving Y'all!!!!!!!!!!

Hey y'all! I am Alex Haver. This is my fourth year on the CSUB track team and I am a physical education major with my concentration in teaching. I am planning to enter the field of collegiate coaching in the sport of track and field upon graduation but in the mean time, I am just pushing myself towards that bachelor's degree. A little into my background; I was born and raised in the little town of Cottonwood, Calif., a town of around 2,500 people that is located about an hour and half north of Sacramento. The joke of the town is that there is at least is a good 10:1 ratio of cows to people in the town. I moved down to Bakersfield strictly to pursue a career into track and field.

Right now, the track team is at the start of the year. This means that the distance girls are in cross country, the distance boys are training and running in open events, the throwers have begun lifting workouts with Coach Collatz and the sprinters are with Coach Spence. Junior Brandon Washington is doing a great job with the morning weight workouts for all sprinters and jumpers on the team.  The team's focus right now is to get ready for the indoor season first and then concentrate on the outdoor season. The team has a very determined attitude this year.  Since I have been at CSUB, I've never been around a group that has worked as hard as our squad right now. There is a determination to show to ourselves and everyone else that CSUB belongs at the NCAA Division I level.

That is all for now. Y'all will hear from me time to time when the team has trips, events or just updates on how practice is and how we are progressing. Look forward to keeping y'all informed!
