Biography

2012 CROSS COUNTRY (SENIOR): Did not compete in any meets for CSUB.

2012 TRACK AND FIELD (JUNIOR): A talented and versatile athlete, Nielson competed in a wide variety of events for the ‘Runners including sprints hurdles, middle distance and jumps....She didn’t compete for the ‘Runners in the outdoor season due to injury, but ran sprints, was a member of CSUB’s relay teams in the outdoor season....Set a PR in the 60 hurdles at the NAU Open with a time of 9.20 seconds, which was good enough for sixth place.

2011 TRACK AND FIELD (SOPHOMORE):
Had two top-10 finishes at the Tommy Lister Classic (Apr. 23) when she took eighth in the 400-meter hurdles (1:06.69) and 10th in the 100 hurdles (15.72)…Part of the ‘Runners’ 4X100-meter relay team that placed eighth (49.40) at the Pomona-Pitzer Invitational Apr. 9.

RIVERSIDE COMMUNITY COLLEGE:
Competed as a hurdler for coaches Duff Wiley and Mike Barbee…earned her AA in 2010.

PALM DESERT HIGH SCHOOL: The Aztecs competed in the Desert Valley League…Nielson was named the team’s Top Hurdler as a senior…named the track and field team MVP as a junior…also ran cross country for the Aztecs as a freshman and sophomore…was a member of the basketball team those two years as well.

PERSONAL: Nielson intends to major in Environmental Resource Management at CSUB…parents are Myles and Christine Nielson…brother Dylan ran track at Utah State University…great uncle John Toomay played basketball for the Los Angeles Lakers and Denver Nuggets of the NBA…second cousin Pat Toomay was a linebacker for the Dallas Cowboys and Oakland Raiders of the NFL.
