Biography
2020-21 (SENIOR): BEACH: Returned from injury and posted a 6-5 record on the year, 6-3 as part of No. 4 pairing and 0-2 at No. 5s…paired with three different partners, but finished season 6-3 with Hayley McCluskey at No. 4 pair…earned a three-set win over No. 18 Long Beach State and beat CSUN in straight sets twice with McCluskey.
2019-20 (JUNIOR/REDSHIRT): Played in 15 matches, starting once…tallied 25 kills, 53 digs, 12 blocks, and 11 service aces on the season…posted season-high best match with seven kills, seven aces, 16 digs, and three blocks vs. Canisius Aug. 31…seven service aces against Canisius tied the CSUB Division I record for most in a match…record six kills and three blocks in win over Chicago State Oct. 26...BEACH: Sat out the season as a medical redshirt.
2017-19 (JUNIOR COLLEGE): Competed at West Valley College in Saratoga, Calif…coached by Armen Zakarian…named WVC Female Athlete of the Year…INDOOR: recorded 920 kills (4.91/set), 104 service aces, and 614 digs in two seasons with the Vikings…team posted 34-21 record while advancing to playoffs both seasons…in 2018, reached CCCAA State Championship Quarterfinal…named All-Region and All-Conference in 2017…in 2018, named All-American, All-State, and All-Conference as well as NorCal Player of the Year…recorded a career-high 29 kills vs. Merced College as a freshman…posted 20+ kills in 17 matches during her two seasons as a Viking…BEACH: Led team to win Conference Championship in 2019 and was the Conference and CCCAA NorCal Beach Volleyball Pairs Champion with teammate Kaylin Henderson…finished runner-up at State Pairs Championship with a 6-1 finish.
HIGH SCHOOL: A 2017 graduate of Mid-Pacific Institute in Honolulu, Hawaii…coached by Luis Ramirez and Tommy Lake…named Team MVP and Second Team All-League…also competed in soccer at Mid-Pacific and paddled with Outrigger Canoe Club.
PERSONAL: Born on June 2, 1999…daughter of Rodney and Lise Sekona…a business administration major who plans to enter a master's program after graduation.
