2018 Track (SENIOR): Competed in three events (3000m, 5000m, 10000m) throughout 10 meets this season...posted seven top 10 finishes on the year...registered two first-place victories in the 3000m and 5000m races...recorded personal-bests in the 3000m (10:20.19) and 5000m (17:23.52)...ranked 14th all-time on the 1500-meter depth chart list (4:49.47)...sixth all-time on the depth chart in the 3000-meter (10:20.19)...third-best time on the program top 20 list in the 5000-meter (17:23.52)...second-best time run in the 10000-meter (36:55.34)...earned Academic All-WAC honors...named WAC nominee for 2018 NCAA Woman of the Year. 2017 Cross Country (SENIOR): Paced the `Runners in all five races including the NCAA west regional meet...finished collegiate career leading Bakersfield in 16 consecutive races...broke all previous records and now places at the top of the 4k, 5k, and 6k lists...third-place finish at the Pepperdine 4k with a time of 14:55.5...finished in 6th place at the Fresno State 5k with a time of 18:18.2...had a first-place finish in the 5k at the Mustang Challenge with a time of 17:34.8...finished the Santa Clara 6k in 16th-place at 20:54.6...broke personal 5k best at the WAC Championships, placed 6th (17:20)...ended season at the NCAA West Regional meet...placed 74th at Regionals with a time of 21:08.8...earned Academic All-WAC honors.
2017 Track (JUNIOR): Moved up to eighth all-time on program depth chart in 10000-meter (38:34.73)...placed seventh in 10000m at WAC Outdoors...climbed to 10th all-time in the 3000m (10:28.28) and 5000m (18:16.12)...placed 13th in 5000m finals at WAC Indoors...finished 17th in 3000m at WAC Outdoors...lowered 1500m personal-best to 4:58.77 at Pomona-Pitzer Invite. 2016 Cross Country (JUNIOR): Paced CSUB in all four races...finished season leading CSUB in ten consecutive races, second in program history...placed top 10 at the Pepperdine 4k meet (16:00.4)...broke program 6k record with time of 22:19.6...earned first-ever WAC cross country Athlete of the Week honors...lowered 5k PR to 18:40.4 (fourth in program history)...rarned the first-ever cross country All-Conference honor...reset own 6k record at NCAA Division I West Regionals (21:50.1)...improved best-ever Regionals finish by 16 places.
2016 Track (SOPHOMORE): Competed in the 1500m once and 3000m three times...posted personal-best in the 1500m (5:03.94) and in the 3000m (10:34.04)...placed first at the Cal Poly Invite with new personal-best (18:37.99) in 5000m...finished season with Academic All-WAC honors...posted an 11th-place finish in the WAC Outdoors 10000m (39:02.83). 2015 Cross Country (SOPHOMORE): Led the team in all six races...reset the program 4.2k record at Fresno State’s meet with a time of 15:54...lowered PR at Mustang Challenge 5k (19:10.5), broke into program 5k Top 10 list...ranked fifth in program history in the 6k after time of 23:20.8 at the Pomona-Pitzer meet...reset 5k personal best to 18:51.1 at WAC Championships...was first `Runner to place lower than 30th (27th) since joining the conference.
2015 Track (FRESHMAN): Competed in the 1500-meter twice and 3000-meter five times...posted personal-best time of 5:12.58 in 1500m at Pomona-Pitzer Invite...lowered previous personal best by 18 seconds to 10:56.93 in 3000m at the Bulldog Invitational...finished seventh at the Cal Poly Invite with new personal best of 10:46.95 in 3000m...ranked 15th all-time in 3000m program depth chart. 2014 Cross Country (FRESHMAN): Was a standout performer for the cross country team, finished second or third for the ‘Runners at every meet...posted a time of 21:10.2 in the 5k at her first collegiate race...shattered her previous collegiate-best with a 19:56.5 time at the Mustang Challenge 5k...registered a time of 24:07.9 in the 6k at Pomona-Pitzer...finished season with a 38th-place finish in the 5k at the WAC Championships 5k (19:58.0).
HIGH SCHOOL: A 2014 graduate of East High School...coached by Richard Villalovos...bakersfield Jockey Club Award (2011, 2013), team MVP (2013), All-League (2013, 2014) and Outstanding Female Athlete (2014)...graduated with a cumulative GPA of 4.37...received the Martha Ortiz Memorial Scholarship...played soccer for the Blades...earned second team All-League (2013). PERSONAL: Born Dec. 16, 1995...parents are Juan and Diana Valdez...graduated May of 2018 with a Mathematics degree...plans to become a teacher after graduation...plays clarinet, cello, trumpet, and piano...mother, Diana Valdez (Chavez), ran cross country and track for Santa Ana College and Bakersfield College...married Joshua Christiansen in 2017.
