2017-18 (R-SENIOR): Finished season with a 24-14 record…had 15 victories by decision, three by major decision and five pins...produced 10-5 dual record and was 2-1 in Pac-12 duals...qualified for NCAA Championship after finishing third at Pac-12 Championship...went 2-2 at NCAA Championship with a 12-9 decision over Michigan State's RayVon Folley and a pin of No. 16 Jacob Schwarm (6:23) of Northern Iowa...pinned Yoshi Funakoshi of Cal Poly (2:36) to open Pac-12 Championship and pinned Gabe Townsell of Stanford (2:16) to earn third...finished second at Roadrunner Open despite losing opening match and was forced to win five consecutive matches to reach the title...went 4-2 at Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational...five pins were tied for fourth on the team.

2016-17 (REDSHIRT): Sat out the season as a redshirt at CSU Bakersfield...competed in five open tournaments and won 16-of-20 matches...finished first at the San Francisco State U-21 Open and the Menlo Invitational...placed second at the Roadrunner Open and San Francisco State Open.

2015-16 (JUNIOR): Went 3-0 at the App State Mountaineer Duals...was 2-2 at the Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational...went 2-2 at the Reno Tournament of Champions...went 11-4 in dual competition...charted a 2-2 mark at the Pac-12 Tournament to complete the season with a 20-12 record...posted seven pins, the second most on the team...has moved into a tie for 24th school history with two others (17).

2014-15 (SOPHOMORE): Went 3-2 at the Roadrunner Open...was 1-2 at the Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational...posted a 2-2 mark at the Reno Tournament of Champions...tallied a 0-2 record at the Midlands Championships...finished second (3-1) at the California Collegiate Open...placed fourth at the Pac-12 Championships after going 1-2 during the tournament...completed season with a 14-15 record and six pins, the second most on the team.

2013-14 (FRESHMAN): Placed sixth at the Pac-12 Championships at 125 pounds...was 4-2 at the Fresno City College Bill Musik Open...took redshirt off during Nov. 15 tri-dual against App State and Grand Canyon...was 1-1 during the tri-dual...was 2-2 with two pins during the Roadrunner Open...finished season 11-20, 1-6 in duals.

HIGH SCHOOL: A 2013 graduate of San Fernando High School...coach was Chad Solano...a three-time city champion...named team MVP as a senior...team won city titles from 2010-12.

PERSONAL: Born Sept. 25, 1995...son of Rosa Mendez...a criminal justice major working on a minor in psychology...hopes to become a police office after his time at CSUB.
