2016 (R-JUNIOR): Competed in shot put and hammer throw for the ‘Runners…Posted personal best hammer throw (156-03) at Pomona-Pitzer Invite…Threw hammer 156-01 feet at WAC Outdoors to finish sixth and earn Second Team All-Conference honors…Tossed second-best shot put of season (42-03.25) at WAC Outdoors to finish 12th…Personal best shot put of 44-02.00 throw came at Cal State LA Twilight…Earned Academic All-WAC.
 
2015 (JUNIOR): Took a redshirt at CSUB.
 
2013-14 (JUNIOR COLLEGE): Was a member of the Merced College track and field team…Coached by Casey Ballinger and Louis Foy…Left the program ranked fourth all-time in the hammer (149-09) and 10th in the shot put (46-06.75).
 
HIGH SCHOOL: A 2012 graduate of Burroughs High School...Coached by Charles Novascone…Threw the shotput and hammer for the Burros in the Desert Sky League…Also played basketball at BHS.
 
PERSONAL: Born on May 25, 1994…Son of Mike Wirtz and David and Barbara Walls…A criminal justice major who plans to go into law enforcement after his time at CSUB…Father, Mike, played basketball at UC Riverside from 1982-85 while mother, Barb Murphy, played Tennis from 1984-85 at UCR.
