• Second-year Head Coach Ari Wideman is leading a reform in the Roadrunner program, aided by the help of a talented coaching staff.

• CSUB’s top offensive weapon this season has been guard Chrishawn Coleman, who ranks fifth in the Big West this season with 16.3 points per game.

CSUB at Long Beach State  

• CSUB starts off the Big West opener at the Beach:

• Bakersfield and Long Beach State have faced off 16 times in the past, and the `Runners will be looking for their first-ever win against the Beach. 
• Last year in Bakersfield, LBSU swept CSUB 3-0, but the middle game of the series feature a 5-4 battle. 
• Friday's single game will be broadcasted via ESPN+, but Saturday's doubleheader will only have live stats to follow along.

• The Cal State Bakersfield beach volleyball team will continue the 2026 season with another road trip, once again taking on opponents from all over the country. 
• Led by third-year Head Coach Andy Fulenwider, the 2026 edition of the Roadrunners features 11 returners and 7 newcomers. 
• Vivi Kaelin, Ella Ensign, and Katey Milne bring the most experience back in the solid group of veteran `Runners. 
  • Among several other newcomers, Fulenwider welcomed to the squad Kendall Kaelin, a graduate transfer who is the older sister of Vivi Kaelin. The siblings are expected to pair together in the sane this season. 
• Cal State Bakersfield has set out on a new season with the ultimate goal of competing for a Big West Championship in sight. 

CSUB at Long Beach State Invitational 

• The `Runners will contest four matches over a pair of days:

• Cal State Bakersfield’s first and toughest test will be against #8 LMU, a team CSUB is 1-10 against all-time. 
• The `Runners have fared much more evenly against Santa Clara with a 2-2 series split. 
• CSUB will be facing off against Stetson for the first time in the two programs’ histories. 
• Bakersfield will close out the weekend against UAB, a team CSUB had never met prior to two weeks ago when the Blazers outlasted the `Runners 3-2 in Florida.

• The Roadrunner women’s golf team continues the busiest stretch of its easy, preparing for its third-consecutive weekend with a tournament on the schedule. 
• Third-year Head Coach Katy Barrett Baxter had a core group of `Runners that led the way to a historic Fall portion of the season, paced by a pair of seniors: Iris Han and Sarah Mutai. 
  • The duo is on track to wrap up their `Runner careers as the top two performers in program history. 
• `Runner newcomers like freshman Fiona Clancy and Rena Kaneko made a huge impact in the first half of the season while sophomore was a steady fixture in the lineup 
• On the heels of a record-setting 2024-25 season, the Roadrunners rolled that momentum into a great 2025-26 season thus far.  

CSUB at MSU SoCal Invitational 

• The `Runners will continue the spring season with a SoCal tournament hosted by Morehead State:

  • Camarillo, Calif. / Sterling Hills GC 
• This marks Bakersfield’s second competition on the Central Coast this season after a trip to Sandpiper GC in Goleta, Calif. Back in October. 
• The field is set to play three rounds over three days of competition. 
• CSUB Head Coach Katy Barrett Baxter regularly sends a good mixture of youth and experience into battle with opposing teams. 
• The field features a total of 15 teams including Bakersfield. 
  • CSUB and CSUN will be the only teams from California in the mix, welcoming programs from all over, including Memphis, Providence, Creighton, Notre Dame, and more.

• The Cal State Bakersfield track and field program will continue the outdoor portion of the 2026 season after a week off from competition. 
• CSUB has 14 regular-season outdoor competitions on the slate. 
  • The Big West Championships will take place May 15-16. 
• The Roadrunners opened the year at the Sunbird Invitational which saw four individual wins. 
• Senior Javier Toro and sophomore Makiah Parker are two returners who qualified for the NCAA West First Round’s last year.  
  • Parker is the reigning Big West champion in the 200m and is runner-up in the 100m. 

CSUB at Beach Opener - Mar. 6-7  

• Other notable teams scheduled to compete during the weekend are Long Beach State, CSUN, UC Irvine, UCLA, University of Minnesota, and Maryland.  
• On Friday, the throwers will start competition for the Roadrunners.  
• Javier Toro will lead the way for CSUB in the hammer throw and will be joined by teammates Tyler Balgeman, Adam Torres, and Daniel Hartman. Hartman had a 30-feet improvement in the event two weeks ago at the Sunbird Invitational. 
• For the women, Grace Padron and Annie Amneus will also compete in the hammer throw. Padron ranks sixth all-time in the event for CSUB. 
• Saturday will have the rest of the events for the Roadrunners.  
• Jacob Yagers and newcomer Francisco Felix Jr. will work together in both the 1,500m and 3,000m. A year ago, Yagers won the 1,500m. Felix Jr. is coming a big personal best and #2 all-time in program history in the men’s 3,000m.  
• Ethan Lavina will continue to compete in the horizontal jumps. He is coming off two PB’s in both the long and triple jump. 
• Javier Toro, Adam Torres, and Tyler Balgeman will return on Saturday for the men’s shot put. Balgeman will triple and compete in the discus as well. 
• Jaden Cutliff will be the lone `Runners in the 400mH and will also be a part of the 4x400m relay team.   
• For the women, Skye Odom will also take part in both horizontal jumps.  
• Emilia Mandela is set to make her season debut in the 100mH. Last year at the Big West Track and Field Championships, Mandela was a finalist in the event. 
• She will be joined by fellow teammate, Ivy Miller for the short hurdles. Miller is also set to compete in the 400mH.  
• Makiah Parker and Rionna Wallace will open up the 2026 season. Both athletes are coming off a great indoor season.  
• Freshman and Bakersfield Calif. native, Adeline Rangle is set to race in the 400m.  
• Rain Gomez and Ava Leisenfelder will double for the second straight meet in the 1,500m and 3,000m. Gomez is coming off two huge PB’s and looks to continue her momentum from two weeks ago.

• The 2025-26 season pushes into postseason competition this week as a pair of Roadrunner divers prepares to represent CSUB. 
• Bakersfield’s diving program returns to NCAA Zones for the first time since the 2023-24 season after a year of not qualifying for the next level of competition. 
• Cal State Bakersfield will enjoy another postseason performance later this month when swimmer Vili Sivec represents the `Runners at the NCAA Championships. 

CSUB at NCAA Zone E Diving Championships 

• A pair of `Runners head to Arizona to compete against the best divers in the region:

• Senior Anderson Laing and freshman Alma Smith will represent the `Runners following standout seasons. 
  • This year marks the first time at the NCAA Division I level that CSUB has sent two men to Zones in the same year. 
• Smith reset the CSUB record on the 1-meter board this year and ranks No. 2 all-time on the 3-meter. 
• Laing ranks No. 4 all-time for Bakersfield in those two events.

• The Cal State Bakersfield wrestling program hits the road for the Pac-12 Championships with automatic bids to the National Championships on the line. 
• Seventh-year Head Coach Luke Smith aims to continue momentum built by his program last season. 
  • Smith’s squad qualified three Roadrunners for the 2025 NCAA Championships while 197 pounder AJ Ferrari earned Bakersfield’s first All-American honors in a decade. 
• The CSUB roster boasts a strong mix of returning veterans as well as fresh talent. 
• Smith will look to NCAA Qualifier Richard Castro-Sandoval (125) to set the tone heading into a new year. 
  • The `Runners will also rely on veterans like Guillermo Escobedo, Devyn Flores-Che, Chris Neal, Santino Sanchez, and Hayden Zinkin to lead the way. 
•  CSUB has enjoyed several newcomers making their mark on the season. To name a few: freshmen RJ Jones and Mikah Labuanan, redshirt freshman Evan Manzo, and redshirt senior Mason Cover. 

CSUB at Pac-12 Championships 

• Cal State Bakersfield gets to stay in California this year for the annual conference tournament:
