BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – Makiah Parker has been named the Big West Women's Track & Field Freshman of the Year. 

Parker was an NCAA West First Round qualifier in both the 100m and 200m. She was the Big West champion in the 200m and was runner-up in the 100m. Parker became the first CSUB freshman in the Division I era to win an individual title in any conference championship. She clocked in two school records on the final day of the Big West Track & Field Championships. Those two records were previously set in 1983 and had been the longest-standing records for CSUB.

The Mansfield, Texas native ranked 95th in the nation for the 200m. She ended the 2025 season ranking first in the conference for the event, while third for the 100m. 

Parker is the first Roadrunner to be named the Big West Women's Freshman of the Year.
