BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — Ryan King earned Cal State Bakersfield Athlete of the Week honors after a solid pitching performance against UC Riverside this weekend.

The freshman right-hander allowed just one earned run on six hits, striking out 10, to help the Roadrunners to a 7-2 victory over the Highlanders in the opener of a three-game Big West baseball series at Hardt Field. King left the game with the Roadrunners trailing 2-0, but CSUB scored seven runs in the seventh.

For the season, King has a team-high 42 strike outs in 41 innings, with just 11 walks.
