• The Cal State Bakersfield beach volleyball team continued the season away this week finishing 1-2 in Stockton California after facing WCC opponents.
• Vivi Kaelin and Ella Erteltova went undefeated this week as the #2 pair defeating all of their competition in straight sets.
• Freshmen duo Kaia Fanshier and Ella Ensign finished the week going undefeated as the #4 pair defeating all of their opponents in straight sets.
• The Roadrunners had just come short of one win to tie the record for most wins in program history set at 16 wins with previous head coach Cesar Benatti.

• The Cal State Bakersfield softball team battled in a road series at Hawai'i this weekend but came up short in each game.
• CSUB's offense was solid as three `Runners hit .444 or better over the series: Logan-Ray Gaspar (.556), Rylee Price (.444), and Dani Hunter (.444).
• Price, a former junior college All-American at Bakersfield College, slugged .889 on the weekend, thanks to a double and her first home run as a Roadrunner. She is on a five-game hitting streak and has raised her batting average almost 200 points in the last month.
• The CSUB pitching and defense was unable to slow down the potent bats of the Rainbow Wahine, who earned the series sweep on their home field.
• Redshirt junior Kaia Johnson went 2-for-2 in stolen base attempts this weekend and is now 21-for-22 on the year.
  • Johnson already reset CSUB's single-season record for swiping bags (previously 16) and she is now hunting down the CSUB career record (37, Kaylynn Burt, 2015-18) with 31 so far.

CSUB 2, UH 10 (5 inn.) - Friday, Apr. 19

• Taking a 4-1 lead after just two innings, Hawai'i jumped out early against Bakersfield.
• The Rainbow Wahine scored six runs in the fourth innings to go ahead 10-1.
• Bakersfield's pair of runs came on a solo homer by Rylee Price in the second inning and an RBI single from Aariana Harrison in the fifth.

CSUB 2, UH 7 - Saturday, Apr. 20 (Game 1)

• The home team broke a scoreless tie in the bottom of the third, plating a pair of runs for a 2-0 advantage.
• Bakersfield tallied a pair of single runs in the fourth and fifth innings, but Hawai'i continued to steadily grow its advantage.
• The Rainbow Wahine capped their scoring with a three-run sixth inning on the way to the five-run victory.
• Logan-Ray Gaspar went 3-for-4 in the game while Dani Hunter went 2-for-3.

CSUB 4, UH 8 - Saturday, Apr. 20 (Game 2)

• Hawai'i took an 8-1 advantage to the seventh inning thanks to scoring four runs in the second and three runs in the fourth.
• Bakersfield did not go down without a fight, scoring three runs in the final frame.
  • Maya Williams started the offense with a 1-out triple, then scored on an RBI single from Logan-Ray Gaspar.
  • Rylee Price later tallied her third RBI of the weekend with a single.
  • Hailey Brooks capped the scoring with an RBI single of her own.
• Hawai'i stopped the bleeding and sealed the series sweep.
• Gaspar went 2-for-3 with her second multi-hit game of the weekend.
• Price went 2-for-4 in the series finale.Cal Poly would go on to score four runs in the top of the eighth inning and hold on for the 6-2 victory.

• The Cal State Bakersfield baseball team faced against one of the toughest opponents yet in the Big West Conference. 
• Bakersfield was swept in a 3-0 battle for the series. 
• Ryan Verdugo showed out again for the Roadrunners. Setting a record for CSUB, throwing seven innings of no-hit baseball.

 CSUB 1, UC San Diego 2– Friday, April 19

• The Roadrunners fought a tough battle to start off game one of the series. Coming out strong defensively, the `Runners kept the Tritons from scoring for 3 innings.
• In the top of the fourth, UCSD was only able to score after getting on base by a walk then scored off a Sacrifice fly.
• Ryan Verdugo was a huge contributor to Bakersfield’s outstanding performance, throwing seven innings giving up no hits, a single run while striking out nine of UC San Diego’s batters. He continues to lead the team in strikeouts with 70 and second in the big west. He moved up to fifth in the conference for ERA at 2.83 and first for the `Runners.
• Although Verdugo had an outstanding performance, it was not enough to hold off the Tritons. In the final inning Bakersfield made a clutch play scoring a single run to tie it up in the bottom of the ninth off Max Bernal’s single to first base scoring Nick Salas.
• Playing an extra two innings, San Diego got the best of Bakersfield in the top to the 11th, scoring a single run, winning 2-1.

CSUB 5, UC San Diego 6 – Saturday, April 20

• The Bakersfield baseball team continued to battle through game two.
• Getting out to another early lead, the CSUB ball club put up five runs in the first inning.
  • One of the runs was a homer from Senior Kyler Stancato, who hit a 3-run blast to mark his first homerun of his season.
• UC San Diego answered back slowly for the remained of the game. Scoring a scatter of six runs for the next six innings.
• Bakersfield was unable to answer back, losing the second game of the series.

CSUB 6, UC San Diego 11 – Sunday, April 21

• For the second game in a row Bakersfield got out to another early lead.
• In the bottom of the fourth, the `Runners put up four runs to grab the lead and hold onto it for the next two innings.
• The tritons came back in the top of the first scoring to runs, but still not taking the lead from Bakersfield.
• In the same inning, CSUB answered back and put up another two tallies on the board to have six runs in total. This inning complete Bakersfield’s scoring.
• The Tritons made a huge comeback in the top of the ninth, scoring four runs to take the series in a sweep.

• Helena Valentic continued another impressive week by lowering her school record in the women’s 3,000m steeplechase at Mt. Sac Relays.
• The sprinters showed off their speed at the Chris Rinne Twilight hosted by UC Riverside.The Roadrunners started off the week at the Cal State LA Twilight on Wednesday and Thursday. Valentic was the lone CSUB athlete at the Leopard Distance Carnival on Friday. Bakersfield closed out the week and the popular Bryan Clay Invitational on Saturday. 

CSUB at Mt. Sac Relays - 

• Senior Helena Valentic toed the line for the second straight week in the women’s 3,000m steeplechase. She finished the race in a new school record of 10:50.82, breaking her own record that she set a week ago in the event.
• Matthew Garrett placed sixth overall in the men’s hammer throw with a mark of 205’2”. Teammate Javier Toro threw a 198’8” in the event and had an impressive throw of 53’11.25” in the shot put.

CSUB at UCR Chris Rinne Twilight - 

• Jessi Solis placed second overall in the women’s hammer throw. The Bakersfield native threw a 170’11”.
• Neyda Martinez leads the team in the women’s 800m with a new personal best of 2:20.84. She had a break outrace at the meet and placed fifth overall.
• Jacob Yagers also had an impressive performance in the 800m on the men’s side. The junior from Bakersfield placed third overall with a time of 1:54.92.
• Jahnyl Donaldson-Howden and Nerissa Thompson went 2-3 in the women’s 100m. Donaldson-Howden came home with a new personal best of 12.00 in the event.
• Thompson captured a personal best time of 25.15 in the women’s 200m.
• On the men’s side, newcomer Meshach Davis left Riverside with two new lifetime bests in the 100m and 200m. Davis won the 100m in a time of 10.86 and finished the 200m in 21.93, good for fifth overall.
• Teammate Jacob Mounmanivong also finished the day with personal bests.Yagers ended the long day with a 1,500m race at 11:30 p.m. The junior won his race in a new CSUB #3 all-time performance of 3:47.76, earning a five-second PR.
