• Last matchup came earlier this season at the Bakersfield Beach Bash. CSUB defeated San Francisco 4-1.
• The Dons hold a 9-17 record.
• In the WCC the Dons are 5th overall in the standings.

•  Bakersfield is 2-1 all-time versus the Broncos.
• The Broncos hold a 9-16 record.
• They are currently 6th in WCC standings.

• The Cal State Bakersfield baseball team is back at home for a three-game series against UC San Diego. 
• Starting Friday night with food truck Friday at 6 p.m. for some fun at Hardt Field, celebrating the third game of the 661 promotions. 
• Continuing through the weekend on Saturday at 5 p.m. where there will be a Alumni and Friends Slugger social before the game. 
• Wrapping up the series with Kids Fun Day Sunday at 1 p.m., kids will get to run the bases after the game. 

 CSUB vs UC San Diego (23-11, 10-5 BW)

• The Roadrunners will face off against the UC Diego Tritons who are currently ranked fourth in the conference. 
• They have won the series against the number one team in the conference, #13 UC Irvine.
  • Winning game one and game three of the series.
• Bakersfield and UC San Diego have a short history, only playing since 2021, with the Tritons leading 6-4.
• Pitcher Ryan Verdugo became the first CSUB baseball player to receive back-to-back Big West honors for his performances on the mound. 

• The Cal State Bakersfield Track and Field program is set to be down in SoCal for multiple track meets this week.
• Bakersfield will have a group of athletes competing at one of the biggest track meets in the world, the 64th annual Mt. Sac Relays presented by Nike. 
• The rest of the squad will be at the UC Riverside Chris Rine Invitational.  

CSUB at Mt. Sac Relays - Thursday-Saturday, Apr. 18-20, All Day 

• Helena Valentic is coming off the biggest race in her career. The native of Croatia broke the school record in the women's steeplechase with a new personal best of 10:53.88. She broke the previous record by 10 seconds. It was the first time in her career that she broke the 11 minute barrier. Valentic will continue the momentum in the event and is set to race this Thursday.
• Two-time Big West pole vault champion, Miranda Miller, has been battling a knee injury since December but is set to compete at the Mt. Sac Relays for the third straight year. 
• The men's throwers are set to compete in both the hammer throw and shot put. Matthew Garrett, who is ranked #27 in the West Region will double alongside teammate Javier Toro. Axel Salazar will join his teammates in the hammer throw.

CSUB at UC Riverside Chris Rine Invitational - Friday-Saturday, Apr. 19-20, All Day 

• Senior Jessi Solis is having an outstanding last season in the blue and gold so far. The Bakersfield native has had success in the hammer throw and will continue to compete in the event this week. 
• The hurdle duos Julia Stein and Jaztyn Greer are set to compete in the 100m hurdles and 400m hurdles. 
• Jahnyl Donaldson-Howden and Nerissa Thompson will double in the 100m and 200m. Both athletes have had personal bests in their events this season. 
• Julie Johnson will race the 400m. Last weekend she was just shy of her personal best of 56.15 in the event. She looks to earn a PR this weekend. 
• Jacob Yagers will move down to the 800m to focus on speed after a breakthrough race at the Bryan Clay Inviational last weekend. Yagers clocked in a new personal best of 3:47. 76. His time put him third all-time in program history and he became the fastest CSUB athlete in 30 years for the event. 
• Teammates Alex Cuevas and Matthew Berry will join him.
• Skyblue Gonzales will race in the 400m.

  CSUB vs. Hawai’i (15-19, 8-5 BW)

• Friday, April 19-20, 6 p.m. (PT), at Manoa, HI
• Hawai’i is coming off a weekend series with UC Riverside, winning the series 2-1.
• The Rainbow Wahine currently sit in fourth place coming into the weekend behind Cal State Fullerton, Long Beach State, and Cal Poly.
• Hawai’i’s offense features four batters batting over .300, with a team average of .264.
  • The team’s batting average is good for fourth in the conference, while they lead the conference in home runs (31) and slugging percentage (.408).
    • Cal State Fullerton ranks second in the conference for home runs with 15.
  • The team’s pitching appears their biggest weakness with a team ERA of 4.62, which has them sitting 8th in the conference. While in conference play, they have an ERA of 3.46 and Addison Kostrencich leads the team with a 2.58 ERA.
• Bakersfield has the second most steal attempts (68) this season, sitting behind Cal State Fullerton who leads by a large margin of 121 attempts.
• Head-to-head CSUB is 1-8 versus Hawai’i, their first win in program history came last year in game one of their double header against the Rainbow Wahine, winning 8-5.
  • In game two of the double header, CSUB was unable to complete their comeback bid, scoring once in the top of the seventh, but losing 3-2.
