The Cal State Bakersfield Wrestling team will wrap up the season over the next few weeks on the road. CSUB travel's to Cal Poly this week for another PAC-12 dual meet. 

CSUB vs. Cal Poly - Jan. 21, San Luis Obispo, Calif.

• Cal Poly is 0-0 in conference competition, with a meet against Oregon State Friday before facing off against Bakersfield on Sunday afternoon.
• Cal Poly had a sweep for three duals this past weekend against American University, Northern Colorado, and Air Force.
  • The 133 athlete, Zeth Romney, had three dual wins which paved him to win Pac-12 wrestler of the week. He went 3-0, with the highlight of his performances being tying for 11th for quickest fall in Cal Poly dual meet history, taking his competitor down 24 seconds into the bout against American.
  • During his dual against Northern Colorado, Romney took down his 6th ranked competitor of the year.
  • Bakersfield will be faced with some challenges this weekend against the Mustangs.

• The Cal State Bakersfield’s men’s basketball team will be hosting two Big West games this week at the Icardo Center. 
• Highlighting the weekend full of action is the 8th annual Ag Night when CSUB hosts Cal Poly. CSUB Athletics welcomes hundreds of members in the agriculture industry to the game. 
• The Roadrunners come off two close overtime losses last week, they look to bounce back in conference play. 

CSUB vs. UC Riverside (7-11, 2-4 BW) – Enter to Win / Student Night

• Thursday, Jan. 18, 7 p.m. (PT), at Bakersfield, Calif.
• Bakersfield won the last meeting versus UCR in an overtime game February of last year.
  • UCR leads the all-time series with a 7-5 record versus CSUB
• UC Riverside enters this game in 8th place in the Big West
  • The Highlanders last game was a loss versus Hawai’i
• Redshirt Sophomore Guard, Isaiah Moses, leads UCR in scoring with 12.8 PPG
• Bakersfield comes back from a road trip versus UC Santa Barbara and UC Davis.
  • The Roadrunners dropped two tight games that both went into OT
• The `Runners have seen complimentary production to Kaleb Higgins in the road series from Tom Mark, Naseem Gaskin, and Corey Stephenson.
  • Mark had 18 points, 17 rebounds, 3 assists, 5 blocks, and 2 steals
  • Gaskin had 22 points, 9 rebounds, 4 assists, 3 blocks, and 6 steals
  • Stephenson made his first two starts of his collegiate career and made good work of it.
    • The Sophomore had 22 points, 13 rebounds, 1 assist, and 3 steals

CSUB vs. Cal Poly (4-14, 0-6 BW) – 8th Annual AG Night

• Saturday, Jan. 20, 7 p.m. (PT) at Bakersfield, Calif.
• Bakersfield enters this matchup with a 10-game winning streak versus Cal Poly.
  • CSUB won 70 – 62 in the last meeting
  • Bakersfield leads the all-time series 14 – 2
• Cal Poly finds themselves in last in the conference standing, just one game behind CSUB.
  • The Mustangs lead the conference in blocks per game with 4.1
• Senior Combo Guard, Kobe Sanders, leads the Mustangs in scoring with 18.8 points per game.
  • 18.8 PPG is good for 3rd in the conference and 51st in the nation
• The Mustangs dropped both games last week versus UC Riverside and UC San Diego.

• For the first time in Big West play, the Cal State Bakersfield women’s basketball team will be tested by a pair of road games in the same week.
• On Thursday, the Roadrunners will travel south to UC Riverside.
• Shaunae Brown has tallied 10 double-digit point games in CSUB’s last 11 outings. The guard has cemented herself as one of the most prolific shooters in The Big West.
  • Brown’s 3.14 three pointers made per game has put her name on the national stage, as she currently sits ninth in Division I, included in the mix with the undisputed queen of college basketball, Caitlin Clark.
  • She also sits in a close third place behind Big West scoring leader Jordan Webster (UC Riverside) as the Roadrunner averages 15.1 points a game.

CSUB vs. UC Riverside (8-8, 3-3 BW) - Thursday, Jan. 18, 6 p.m. (PT)

• The Highlanders stumbled out of the gate in Big West play, dropping their first three league games, but they have since won three straight heading into this week’s contest against CSUB.
• The `Runners swept both meetings against UC Riverside a year ago, including a double overtime thriller in the Icardo Center to open league play.
• The Highlanders had won eight-straight against Bakersfield prior to last year’s meetings.
• Riverside’s Jordan Webster (17.3 ppg) lead The Big West in scoring and is the opposition’s offensive answer to the Bakersfield duo of Brown and Jordan Olivares.

CSUB vs. Cal Poly (8-8, 4-2 BW) - Saturday, Jan. 20, 2:00 PM

• The Mustangs opened Big West play with a three-game win streak before dropping their next two contests.
• Cal State Bakersfield is an even 3-3 against Cal Poly over the teams’ last six meetings, but the Mustangs swept both contests against the `Runners last year.
• Natalie Ackerman (11.1 ppg and 7.9 rpg, 2.1 bpg) is an imposing presence in the paint for Cal Poly.

CSUB at Fresno State, Tuesday, Jan. 16, 3 p.m. (PT)

• The Cal State Bakersfield swimming and diving teams were off last week and now the `Runner women will tackle cross-Valley foe Fresno State in a dual on Tuesday.
• In CSUB’s Division I era (since 2007-08), the `Runners have a 4-8 record against the Bulldogs.
• Heading into last season, Fresno State had claimed six-straight duals before Bakersfield snapped the streak.
  • CSUB handed Fresno State a 166-122 defeat on Jan. 13, 2022, in Bakersfield.
• The Bulldogs are undefeated (3-0) in dual meets so far this year, taking wins from Nevada, Fresno Pacific, and Pacific.
• CSUB has a 3-2 record in duals, including its most recent drumming of Cal Poly, 196-103.
